Hi everyone! It’s my first time posting on here but I love following the chat and have learned a lot from the group. I just wanted some feedback relating to Fire Safety for stables.

I’ve been an operational firefighter/incident commander for 15 years with a wealth of knowledge, qualifications and experience in fire safety, risk assessment and firefighting in rural areas.

What with the current discontent in public services I’m considering an alternate career path which based on my interests as a horse lover and private yard owner, my skills and experience.

Sadly, one of the most harrowing incidents I’ll never forget during my time was a fire at a livery yard in Essex with a tragic outcome, and several others less severe.

The Regulatory Reform Order 2005 is the fire safety legislation which applies to all animal premises. But did you know that if you are a livery business owner you are required to carry out a risk assessment?

I was wondering if there would be interest in benefiting from my knowledge to prevent similar occurrences, and actions to take should the worst happen to you?

• What would you like from a Stables Fire Risk Assessment?

• What other services would you benefit from?

• Off grid CCTV/Security/Heat detection installation?

• Training?

I’m trying to see if there is something here which would be beneficial and viable as a self-start-up so all feedback, ideas and comments welcome!
